Sodium acetate, also known as sodium acetate, is an organic compound, a colorless, transparent crystal or white granule. It effloresces in dry air, loses its water of crystallization at 120°C, and decomposes at higher temperatures. It is readily soluble in water and can be used as a buffer, mordant, and in the determination of lead, copper, nickel, and iron, as well as in culture medium preparation, organic synthesis, and film processing.
Main Applications:
1. Water Treatment: Used as a carbon source to provide nutrients for denitrifying bacteria, for nitrogen removal in wastewater treatment.
2. Food Industry: Food-grade can be used as a preservative, acidity regulator, and flavoring agent.
3. Chemical/Laboratory: Buffer preparation (acetic acid-sodium acetate buffer system), raw material for organic synthesis.
4. Antifreeze/Snow Melting: Partially replaces chloride-based snow melting agents, with lower corrosiveness.
5. Pharmaceutical/Printing & Dyeing: Neutralizes acidity, adjusts pH, and acts as a stabilizer.
